Delivery Times and how shipping is calculated

Moto-Classic: Shipping Explained

This outlines estimated delivery times for Moto-Classic products, as well as a breakdown of Domestic and International weights and calculations.

Order Status Times (Domestic and International)

For standard motorcycle parts and components sold through our website, typical dispatch time is within 12–24 hours of order confirmation, depending on timezones ordered from.

Shipping Weights (UK)

There are no weight restrictions for UK — we can ship from envelope to pallets.

Customer Product Shipping (International)

The following times are estimated for standard Small/Medium Parts (up to 10kg). Delivery times are highly variable and do not include delays caused by customs clearance in the destination country.

Moto-Classic ships products to all countries globally, with the exception of any currently restricted territories as per our courier's policies.

Shipping Weights (International)

There are no weight restrictions for European shipping — we can ship from envelope to pallets. For Air Freight Services it gets a little more complicated, as airlines use a system called “Volumetric”.

Volumetric Shipping Explained

Volumetric (or dimensional) weight is a pricing technique carriers use to charge for shipping based on a package's size rather than just its actual weight. It calculates the space occupied, allowing carriers to charge for low-density, bulky items, with the final cost based on the higher of actual vs. volumetric weight.

The chargeable weight is the greater of the actual weight or the volumetric weight. Carriers use specific formulas:

  • Metric Formula: (Length × Width × Height) ÷ 5000
  • Imperial Formula: (Length × Width × Height) ÷ 139

This system matters for cost control — a large box with a light item might be charged for the space it takes up rather than its weight. It also encourages efficiency, as optimising packaging size minimises the space used in aircraft and delivery vehicles.

Our website automatically calculates the size of the product for shipping purposes and prevents over-packing that causes high shipping costs. For multiple items ordered, it calculates to add the space or fit within the space the largest item takes up.

Taxes and Duty

Taxes and Duty Explained: The Simple Guide for International Orders

When you order from Moto-Classic (a UK-based company) and are shipping to an address outside the United Kingdom, your order becomes subject to your local import rules, but you also get an immediate saving:

You Save 20% on UK VAT at Checkout!

As an international customer, you do not have to pay the standard 20% UK Value Added Tax (VAT). This tax is automatically removed from your purchase price as soon as you select your non-UK shipping address at checkout, giving you an immediate saving on your order.

However, because the UK VAT is removed, your local government may require you to pay their taxes and duties instead. We offer two ways to handle these charges:

Option 1: Pay Taxes and Duty Upon Delivery (DDU)

This is a standard shipping method (Delivered Duty Unpaid). It means you pay for your product and shipping cost at checkout, and we send the package immediately.

What to expect:

  • When your parcel arrives in your country, your local Customs Authority or the courier service (like FedEx or DHL) will contact you by phone or email.
  • You will then be asked to pay any applicable import VAT and customs duties before the package can be delivered to your door.
  • If you choose this option, you are responsible for any local fees, taxes, or brokerage charges that may be applied.

Option 2: Pay Everything in Advance (DDP) — The Simple Way

We know that getting an unexpected bill from a courier can be frustrating. To make your shopping experience seamless, we offer a way for you to pay your local taxes and duties at the time of checkout.

Our proprietary Estimated Import Costs tab above the “Add to Cart” button will calculate the exact amount of duty and taxes for your specific country or state.

What to expect:

  • The total charge, including all taxes and duties, will be displayed in your basket before you pay.
  • By pre-paying, your order ships Delivered Duty Paid (DDP).
  • Your package will pass through customs without delay, and you will not have to pay anything further to the courier upon delivery.
  • Please note: All orders to the USA must be Delivered Duty Paid (DDP).
